Pastured Poultry Intensive - October 6, 9am - 1pm
Wild East Farm operates two pastured poultry meat enterprises: chickens and turkeys. In this workshop, we will focus on raising healthy, delicious pastured chicken while benefiting your landscape.
In 2024 we are raising ~3000 broiler chickens rotated through extensive silvopasture plantings, fed 100% organic feed. Our chickens are integrated in a rotation with our sheep flock, both working together to contribute a measurable positive impact on the health of our pastures. We sell our meats both wholesale and direct to customers.
Pastured poultry is a great way to explore small-scale farming for profit or to raise your own high-quality meat for friends and family. This workshop is geared towards people with a serious interest in raising pastured poultry on a small scale.

11am-12:30pm: Hands-on chicken processing experience- learn all parts of the process from live bird to ready-to-cook chicken including killing, scalding, plucking, and eviscerating. Participants can choose to try any/all parts of the process in our fully-outfitted outdoor facility.
12:30pm-1pm: Closing thoughts/discussion
Accessibility:
This workshop is primarily outdoors and involves walking on uneven ground as well as long periods of standing and sitting. It is not recommended as accessible for wheelchairs. Please be aware the hands-on portion of the workshop will involve both live animals, dead animals, blood, and guts. The workshop will be in English.
