Volunteer Day - Mulching!

$0.00

Volunteer Tree Mulching Day - March 15th from 3-6pm.

Wild East Farm is focused on developing food systems that are truly perennial, which includes agroforestry. Agroforestry systems integrate perennial woody plants like trees and shrubs into a farm landscape. These plants can offer many yields, including fruit, nuts, fiber, animal fodder, and medicine as well as increasing biodiversity and moderating against climate change.

We have ~12 acres of perennial crops planted across the farm- and we need help mulching!

Each tree and shrub we have planted needs a thick ring of mulch to keep grasses from competing with the tree roots. Mulching as a group is very gratifying, and a great way to get the body moving again to welcome the springtime. Come learn about our plantings, meet cool people, and do good important work!

What to expect:

We will work together as a group to mulch trees/shrubs. This involved carrying buckets of mulch, scooping mulch into buckets, and pouring mulch around the trees.

Snacks will be provided at the end of the shift and we can enjoy some time with the lambs!

Please bring your own water bottle and wear clothes you are comfortable working in and getting dirty.
